ANDREW EKDAHL DDS
Dr. Andrew Ekdahl was raised and graduated high school in nearby L’Anse, Michigan. After high school, he attended Michigan State University where he received his degree in Human Biology. Following his undergraduate work, Dr. Ekdahl attended the University of Michigan School of Dentistry in Ann Arbor where he obtained his dental degree in 2012.
Dr. Ekdahl is a member of the American Dental Association, Michigan Dental Association, and the local chapter of the Superior District Dental Society. He resides in Marquette with his wife Cassey and daughters Natalie, Paige, and Abigail.
MATTHEW PALOMAKI DDS
Dr. Matthew Palomaki was born a “Bell Baby” and raised in Marquette. He is a graduate of Northern Michigan University and attended dental school at the University of Tennessee. Prior to joining Peninsula Family Dentistry, he practiced in Tennessee for 15 years. Dr. Palomaki relocated back to the Upper Peninsula with his wife and four children at the end of 2022 and is excited to be back home. He is a member of the American Dental Association, Michigan Dental Society and the Superior District Dental Society.

PRACTICE PHILOSOPHY
This practice is based on the premise that prevention is the key to long term oral health care. The goal is to provide you with current, state of the art dental evaluations and treatment in a manner which is both caring and comfortable for you. It is our firm belief that the better you understand your dental condition, the more successful your dental treatment will be. As a result, we continuously strive to provide comprehensive patient education. We encourage questions and suggestions.
INITIAL VISIT
The initial visit is designed to be the time for the patient and doctor to discuss the patient’s medical and dental histories, interpret radiographic findings and clinically diagnose any pathology. We believe this is a time where the patient can voice his/her expectations. We, as a dental team, also use this time to let you know how we function.

FAMILY TREATMENT
According to the American Dental Association, a child should have their first dentist visit by age one or within six month after the first tooth erupts. Here at Peninsula Family Dentistry, we are happy to schedule "friendly visits," and are glad to see your child, even if no treatment is done.

DENISE // DENTAL HYGIENIST
Denise is a Dental Hygienist who has worked with at Peninsula Family Dentistry for over 25 years. She is a graduate of Ferris State University and is licensed in local anesthesia. Denise enjoys spending time with her two grandsons and going to camp with her family and canine companions. She loves the variety and challenges that come with working in the dental field. Denise’s experience and attention to her patients’ needs are exceptional.
COLLEEN // DENTAL HYGIENIST
Colleen is a Dental Hygienist who has worked at Peninsula Family Dentistry for over 25 years. She is a graduate of Ferris State University and is licensed in local anesthesia. She enjoys working with patients and taking care of their dental needs. Colleen provides patients with professional and super care.
GAIL // DENTAL ASSISTANT
Gail has been a tremendous and friendly part of the team for the past 25 years. She enjoys being able to help keep your smile healthy and being able to get to know the patients. Her priority is making sure that they are relaxed and as comfortable as possible throughout their visit. Our team is exceptional at making everyone feel welcome! Gail has achieved the Dental Assistant Certification, Radiation Health and Safety Certification, and CPR with the State of Michigan.
JEN // DENTAL ASSISTANT
Jen joined the PFD family in November of 2019, and has been in the dental field since 2006, with 10 of those years working specifically in Pediatric Dentistry. In 2013 she became a Registered Dental Assistant, after completing the RDA program through Washtenaw Community College. She enjoys working with patients of all ages, and says that her most favorite things about dentistry are building relationships with patients, while also helping to keep their smiles beautiful and healthy. Jen is a U.P. native who loves living life as a mom, and being married to her husband Wilson.
ZADA // OFFICE MANAGER
Zada has been working at Peninsula Family Dentistry for almost ten years and is the Office Manager. In addition to overseeing the front office, she is a Certified Dental Assistant. She loves doing a little bit of everything and assists both patients and doctors with their dental benefits, billing, x-rays, and more. Zada lives in Marquette with her husband Chad, sons James and Osmond and dog Wilma.
ASHLEY // FRONT OFFICE
Ashley joined the PFD family in April of 2022. She has over 20 years of customer service experience. She is a native of the area and resides in Negaunee with her husband Liam and their dog Stella. She enjoys spending her summers on the beach, camping, and traveling with her family. In the winter, you can find her out at our local ski hill or snuggled up at home reading a good book.
AMANDA// DENTAL HYGIENIST
Amanda is an Air Force veteran, originally from the UP, and has over 25 years of dental experience. Amanda completed her Community College of Air Force degree in Applied Science and then went on to earn her degree in dental hygiene at St. Louis Community College Forest Park. Amanda, her husband, and two boys moved back to the area after he retired from the Air Force. When Amanda isn't providing dental care she enjoys spending time with her family, reading, snowmobiling, and beekeeping. Amanda looks forward to annual trips to Maine where her husband is from. Amanda is passionate about dental care, oral hygiene, and takes pride in being a thorough and gentle dental hygienist.
