Covid 19

May 27, 2020

With all that our nation has been through over the last few months, I know many of us are looking forward to resuming our normal habits and routines and enjoying some warmer UP weather. While many things have changed, one thing has remained the same: our commitment to your safety.

Infection control has always been a top priority for our practice and you may have seen this during your visits to our office. Our infection control processes are made so that when you receive care, it’s both safe and comfortable.

Our office follows infection control recommendations made by the American Dental Association (ADA), the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). We follow the activities of these agencies so that we are up-to-date on any new rulings or guidance that may be issued. We do this to make sure that our infection control procedures are current and adhere to each agencies’ recommendations.

You may see some changes when it is time for your next appointment. We made these changes to help protect our patients and staff. For example:

• Our office will communicate with you beforehand to ask some screening questions. You’ll be asked those same questions again when you are in the office. Our staff must speak with you prior to your appointment to ask these screening questions. If we are unable to speak with you prior to, your appointment may be cancelled. Please contact us with any updated phone numbers to best reach you.

• To minimize your wait time and the number of people in our waiting area, you are welcome to remain in your vehicle prior to your appointment time and you will be notified when we are ready for you.

• At this time, we ask that you enter our office wearing an appropriate mask or face covering. We have hand sanitizer in the reception area that we ask you to use when you enter the office.

• You may see that our waiting room will no longer offer magazines, coffee, and children’s toys, since those items are difficult to clean and disinfect.

• Appointments will be managed to allow for social distancing between patients. That might mean that you’re offered fewer options for scheduling your appointment.

• We will do our best to allow greater time between patients to reduce waiting times for you, as well as to reduce the number of patients in the reception area at any one time.

• We ask that you limit extra companions on your visit to our office to only those essential to patient care. With our family and pediatric patients, we ask that you limit your visit to one parent or guardian to accompany your child.

We look forward to seeing you again and are happy to answer any questions you may have about the steps we take to keep you, every patient and our staff members, safe in our practice. To make an appointment, please call our office at (906) 226-9935 for our Marquette location, (906) 475-9958 for the Negaunee location, or visit our website at www.peninsuladentists.com.

Thank you for being our patient. We have missed being able to see the familiar and friendly faces that we have come to know over the years. We look forward to welcoming back our patients, neighbors and friends.

Health Comes First

This practice is based on the premise that prevention is the key to long term oral health care.  The goal is to provide you with current, state of the art dental evaluations and treatment in a manner which is both caring and comfortable for you.  It is our firm belief that the better you understand your dental condition, the more successful your dental treatment will be.  As a result, we continuously strive to provide comprehensive patient education.  We encourage questions and suggestions.

The initial visit is designed to be the time for the patient and doctor to discuss the patient’s medical and dental histories, interpret radiographic findings and clinically diagnose any pathology.  We believe this is a time where the patient can voice his/her expectations.  We, as a dental team, also use this time to let you know how we function.

  • Complete exams, x-rays, and dental cleanings

  • Fillings, root canals, and extractions

  • Cosmetic dentistry, such as whitening, porcelain and composite veneers

  • Implant restoration

  • Crowns, bridges, full and partial dentures

  • Night guards

  • Preventive care, periodontal therapy, and nutritional counseling.

According to the American Dental Association, a child should have their first dentist visit by age 1 or within six month after the first tooth erupts. Here at Peninsula Family Dentistry, we are happy to schedule "friendly visits," and are glad to see your child, even if no treatment is done. We also offer extended evening hours on Tuesdays and Thursdays to fit your busy schedule.

What Patients Are Saying

Hands down the best dentist office I've ever been to! Dr. Wilkinson does a phenomenal job. He always listens to me and answers my questions. I've been terrified of the dentist for as long as I can recall, but I always end up leaving laughing and smiling. Also, the staff and hygienists are great! Courteous, caring, and always there to help!

Jess Y.

Fantastic service and very friendly staff. My son was so scared to go to the dentist and Dr. Ekdahl and his “magic tools” put my son right at ease, as did Kim. My son now has no fear of the dentist and actually is excited to go. Thank you Dr. Ekdahl & Assistant Kim!

Jessica H.

Dr. Chris and all the staff are awesome! My 2 year old daughter had her first dentist appointment today. Mrs. Colleen (dental hygienist) did an AWESOME job with Vera by keeping her calm and counting her teeth. She got her to keep her mouth open! Vera was so excited about the prizes she got for being a good patient. Thank you Peninsula Family for being so good to us!

Linnea S.

For once in my life I had a dental experience that wasn't just "not bad" but actually a very pleasant experience. Dr. Ekdahl does an incredibly good dental work, is highly professional, and takes the time to get to know you and see how you're doing. The same goes for all the staff at Peninsula Dentistry.

Jeremy C.

Had always had a "fear" of dentists. Once I started seeing Dr Wilkinson (many years ago) the fear went away. I have recommended him to many people who feel the same way. Now my "fear" is my teeth will outlast his years of practice so that's where I hope Dr Ekdahl can step in!! The staff has always been top notch and welcoming!

Mary A.

I have been going to Dr. Wilkinson for at least 15 yrs. Wouldn't go anywhere else. He is soothing and makes you feel very secure and knows what he is doing. I vote 100 plus for his care and treatment
